Uneeda NEWBORN BABY Berenguer artist 1980's
This doll was manufactured by Uneeda, which has produced many dolls designed by the Berenguer artists in Spain. In fact, Uneeda may have been the first to introduce these newborn baby dolls in the USA. The newborns were very popular. Other companies began selling Berenguer's babydolls as well: Berjusa, Diana Dolls and JC Toys are a few that I know of.
This is a full size baby doll, and measures 19-20 inches. It is all quality vinyl; jointed at hips, shoulders and neck. The vinyl is pale or sallow in tone, which is it's original color. We did apply some blush to the cheeks. Rooted hair is a bit frizzy but no bald spots. The doll is very clean. She is wearing a Berenguer outfit from a LaBaby doll (not her original outfit.) The neck is marked: Uneeda Doll Co Inc, MLMCXXXVI - which means 1986.
This is a nice example of an early Berenguer newborn. Since then, the Berenguer artists have evolved over the past 30 years and are currently designing ultra-realistic newborns which have been very popular with Reborn artists.
