Sayco Sassy Character Babydoll 1950's Full-Size Toodles Body
Sayco Sassy Character Babydoll 1950's Full-Size babydoll with a Toodles Body. This doll was most likely made by the Sayco doll company because this chubby body style was one that they used a lot. It is unusual to find it with the extra joints at elbows and knees, however. This doll body is very similar to the one that American Character used for their Baby Toodles, and might have been the same mold. The body is marked 20F-5 on the lower back which is typical of Sayco. The head is unmarked (also typical of Sayco.)
This doll was played with and needed a little TLC. He has a new wig that is similar to the haircolor and style that the doll originally had (rooted hair was all gone.) The vinyl color has faded some but that is also typical of this doll body (the Toodles dolls are pale too.)
There are no odors: the doll is clean and in good refurbished condition. However, none of my dolls are pristine: if they have a history of being played with they are likely to have minor spots or blemishes here and there. The face color is renewed. The sleepy blinky eyes are bright and sparkly, with full lashes.
This is a delightful character baby. I can't decide if it's crying or talking. I imagine a baby sitting in it's high chair, pounding in the baby food and talking loudly to the world at large. :)
The doll is wearing a real preemie outfit with Fireman appliques. The sleeper fits very well. So you can buy other preemie clothes for it and have a great time redressing. (I get inexpensive preemie clothes from the Wally stores.)
