Newborn Toodles by American Character
This little sweetie is the American Character Newborn Baby or sometimes known as Newborn Toodles. She is marked with the American Character name on her (not all of them were marked.)
Newborn Toodles face is an imitation of Grace Putnam's Bye-Lo doll which was made of bisque. The antique Bye-Lo dolls were very popular during their era.
She has a one piece soft vinyl body and legs. Her arms are jointed and work well. She is made of very good quality soft vinyl. She is 16 or 17 inches long. The body on this doll is in excellent condition and the head is also very lovely with good color and only minor rubs. Eyes are bright, she has full lashes. One eye is green, one is blue.
This is the older version of this doll, and it is a bit bigger and heavier in the body. Most likely she was made in the mid-1950's. Later on, American Character made this doll with jointed arms and legs. So, Newborn Toodles can be found with two different body styles.
