Chuckles Toddler Doll by American Character
Chuckles by American Character is a very unique doll. I think that she and Toodle Loo have the same artist for a mother. Toodle Loo is not very pretty, poor thing. But Chuckles is a very lovely doll. I don't think that photos do justice to her. She has a Lauren Bacall type face. Her painted features are serene and she has a small sweet smile like the Mona Lisa. This is a very pleasant child. And, she is a sturdy little girl with unusual body construction. Her hands are small and eloquent, her legs are sturdy so she stands very well. The legs are strung jointed but the arms seem to have the usual vinyl joints. She is 23 inches tall. Chuckles is in excellent condition. Her long dark blonde hair is like new, with some curl in it. Does not appear to have been cut. The hair is shiny, soft, glossy and does not show the age at all. Her painted features are in good condition. The vinyl has good color with very few "age spots." There is a faint purplish area on one hand that is not very noticeable. Chuckles is wearing her original flannel print jumper dress. I was told it is original, and it seems to be. It is clean and repaired where the binding came loose on one armhole. She is wearing red panties underneath and a red gingham shirt. The jumper can be removed if desired and the outfit underneath is a nice playset. The three pieces go together very well, but only the flannel jumper is original. She has new shoes and socks to wear.
